Living in Cambridge — a Local Agent's Guide

Cambridge is the strongest long-term market I work, period. Kendall Square biotech, Harvard, MIT, and the Red Line create an employment-and-transit spine that has carried property values through every cycle I've seen. When clients ask where value holds, my answer usually starts here.

You're almost always buying a condo: triple-decker conversions in Cambridgeport and North Cambridge, brick buildings in Mid-Cambridge, or the newer towers around Kendall and NorthPoint — I follow buildings like Thomas Graves Landing on the Lechmere Canal sale by sale. True single-families, especially West Cambridge, are rare and fiercely contested.

The key is knowing which Cambridge you're buying. East Cambridge trades on Kendall paychecks, Porter Square on Red Line convenience, West Cambridge on architecture and calm. Two stops on the Red Line changes the product, the buyer pool, and the price per foot — reading that map for clients is most of my job here.
